Italians on the podium again, silver and bronze in the team kata
It is a second place in kata which is to be added to the third one, reached in the morning by the Italian male team in the same speciality. While the gold went to Germany. First, the junior team title was held by Spain who won with the score 5:0 against Germany in a match, characterized by a clear technical difference. Then the two kumite matches rewarded Croatia both in the male competition (the Croats defeated the Serbs thank to the score difference: the five matches finished up with two victories for each team and a break), and in the female one (2 versus 1 against Bosnia and Herzegovina). The three “silver” Italian female competitors, led by captain Viviana Bottaro (who already won the golden medal in the first day’s individual competition), have made an excellent performance in the final match for the continental title, but anyway they had to give way to the faultless German performance. “A bitter taste somehow remains – as captain Bottaro, leader of the current world champion “trio”, said just after the competition. After the great title achieved in October, we firmly believed in another continental victory. But in sports you can win and you can lose. We are not discouraged, because we are aware of our value and we know that in future we will have the opportunity to improve ourselves. Trieste will remain in my hearth forever, because it gave me a golden and a silver medal, along with many unforgettable moments”.
